RFCA NI ANNUAL BRIEFING AND DINNER

26 September 2017

In a change from the usual format, RFCA NI held their annual briefing at Hydebank Army Reserve Centre, by kind permission of 204 (North Irish) Field Hospital and it was followed by a superb dinner, laid on by 204's very own chefs and members of the unit.

Over 60 members of the Association joined the RFCA NI staff for an update on reserve and cadet matters. They also had the privilege of receiving a very emotive and thought provoking brief from the Chief Executive of Children in Northern Ireland (CiNI), Ms Pauline Leeson CBE, who explained the work of CiNI and the partnership that has developed with Pathway Activities, an outreach initiative established and run by RFCA NI.

The members were also delighted to welcome Cadet Sergeant Ciara McHugh from 72 (Omagh) Squadron, RAF Air Cadets, who gave a very inspiring presentation about the opportunities that she has had as a cadet.  (Ciara was recently awarded an RAF Association Flying Scholarship, one of only 6 to be awarded, following a rigorous selection process).

This was followed by another excellent presentation by a member of our host unit, 204 (North Irish) Field Hospital, who spoke passionately about the training and exercises undertaken by the Field Hospital and the opportunities that are available to those involved.

RFCA NI would like to thank all of the speakers for giving up their time to provide such enlightening and interesting presentations.  We would also like to thank all of those members of 204 (North Irish) Field Hospital who made the night possible and who looked after us all so well.
