Reserve Forces & Cadets Association
Northern Ireland

SEA CADET CORPS

Nationally there are over 14000 young people in over 400 units. In Northern Ireland the SCC has eleven training ships throughout the province with over 380 Cadets. Their training is based on that of the Royal Navy from whom they receive considerable support.

What we do

The emphasis has shifted away from military training and today the Corps aims to equip young people with the essentials of self reliance, personal discipline and teamwork. Sea Cadets learn how to understand orders, to work together and respect each other as well as developing seamanship and navigation skills. They also take part in many other on shore activities similar to other Cadet Forces.

Where we are

The Sea Cadets are based in Portrush, Ballymena, Larne, Carrickfergus, Belfast, Bangor, Newtownards, Lisburn and Kilkeel – to find your nearest unit click here.
